Jon has been playing guitar since he was 7 years old. Starting out playing folk, he soon branched into bluegrass and blues. Soon after, he played in rock bands. By the time he was 14 he had played every church, synagogue and school in his hometown of New Rochelle, N.Y.
At 13, he played for and was encouraged by the great Bruce Langhorne, who played on Dylan and Peter Paul and Mary albums. He later played with the NYU Jimmy Guiffre Big Band, the Anthony Coleman Big Band, various society orchestras and numerous folk, rock, blues, jazz and country bands.
In addition to guitar, Jon plays the saxophone, flute, keyboards, banjo and dobro.
Wayne comes from a very musical family and was trained on several instruments. He first put a slide to an acoustic guitar in 1974 and developed the basics of picking, blocking, and getting a solid control of the slide on a six string 1940's lap steel.
His ear led him to the sounds of Outlaw Country and Country Rock and the grinding chords and sparkling leads of the Pedal Steel. Later in life he decided to seriously pursue playing the Pedal Steel and after 3 years of intense self-instruction on beginner grade gear he began playing local events.
During a New Riders of the Purple Sage concert in Northern NJ Wayne asked their Steeler and his respected muse, Mr. Buddy Cage, what Pro gear he recommended? Wayne followed the recommendation and purchased a GFI Pedal Steel Guitar and Vintage Fender Twin Reverb amplifier and eventually had Mr. Cage to his home for a Master Class.
Wayne continues to learn new material and techniques and records for prominent local artists while enjoying a productive playing schedule.
